Our topic for today is inflammation, both acute and chronic inflammation.

12-10-16 United States life expectancy has declined for the first time in two decades (since 1993). This is a result of heart disease, chronic lower respiratory disease, unintentional injury, strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, kidney disease and suicide.
Mortality from cancer, however, has decreased by 1.7%. These statistics are from one-year data.
Our topic for today is inflammation, both acute and chronic inflammation. It is Dr. Mandel’s belief and that of many other clinicians that inflammation is truly the source of all disease and illness. Compared to recent generations our lives may be getting shorter and our quality of life may be deteriorating.
My guest today is Dr. Sara Zielsdorf, who has offices in Morris, Illinois and Romeoville, Illinois. Dr. Zielsdorf focuses on inflammation in her treatment of patients. Acute inflammation is the body’s natural protective response against an injury or a foreign invader. There is a beginning, middle, and end to acute inflammation.
If acute inflammation does not resolve, it can create a lasting inflammatory response that does not resolve and can develop into chronic inflammation. This may strain and stress the human body and impact how the human body can heal, as well as lead to other diseases…
